Green Bean Casserole is a cozy, creamy side dish that brings together tender green beans, mushroom soup, cheddar cheese soup, and plenty of shredded cheddar. It has that classic comfort-food flavor with a cheesy twist, making it perfect for holidays, family dinners, potlucks, or simple weeknight meals.
A quick microwave step helps warm the creamy green bean mixture before it goes into the oven, so the casserole bakes faster and comes out hot and bubbly. Crispy fried onions on top add the best crunchy finish, while melted cheddar makes every bite rich and satisfying. Serve it warm as an easy side dish with roasted meats, holiday mains, or your favorite everyday dinner.

A creamy, cheesy Green Bean Casserole makes an easy comfort-food side dish with very little prep. Canned green beans are mixed with cream of mushroom soup, cheddar cheese soup, shredded cheddar, and black pepper, then topped with crispy fried onions and more cheese before baking until warm, bubbly, and golden on top. It’s simple, budget-friendly, family-friendly, and especially great for Thanksgiving, Christmas, potlucks, or cozy weeknight dinners.
In a large microwave-safe bowl, add the drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, and 1/2 can of cheddar cheese soup. Mix until everything is well combined.
Microwave for 3 minutes, then carefully stir.
Add a pinch of salt, if using, plenty of black pepper, and 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese. Mix again until combined.
Microwave for another 3 minutes.
Lightly spray an oven-safe baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Pour the green bean mixture into the dish and spread it out evenly.
Top with fried onions and sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
Bake for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the casserole is warm and bubbly.
