Turkey Burgers

Turkey Burgers

Be the first to review!
There is no better way to put a simple, homemade dinner on the table than with these turkey burgers. The ground turkey is lean but the flavor is there in spades, with the help of some green onions, a touch of Worcestershire and any seasonings you happen to have on hand. All you need to do is give them a good sear on the stovetop to make them tender and brown. Once they are done, you can put them in a toasted bun or a lettuce wrap, or fix yourself a burger bowl with the toppings and sauces you like.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 cup green onions chopped
  • oil spray for cooking
Topping Ideas
  • lettuce
  • tomato
  • red onion
  • pickles
  • avocado
  • cheese
  • mustard
  • ketchup
  • burger sauce
  • Greek yogurt ranch

Equipment

  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 fork
  • 1 measuring spoon set
  • 1 measuring cup
  • 1 chef’s knife
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 large frying pan
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 oil spray
  • 1 instant-read meat thermometer

Method

  1. Add ground turkey, egg, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and chopped green onions to a large bowl. Mix gently until everything is just combined. Try not to overmix, so the burgers stay tender.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Form each portion into a burger patty. Press a small indent into the center of each patty to help them cook evenly and keep their shape.
  3. Place a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Spray lightly with oil.
  4. Add patties to the hot pan. Cook for 5 minutes per side, or until browned on the outside and fully cooked in the center.
  5. Turkey burgers are done when they reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
  6. Serve on toasted buns with your favorite toppings, wrap in lettuce for a lighter option, or add to a burger bowl with rice, greens, pickles, tomatoes, and sauce.

Notes

For extra juicy burgers, avoid pressing down on the patties while they cook. Since lean turkey has less fat, the egg, olive oil, and Worcestershire sauce help keep the burgers moist and flavorful.
Storage
Store cooked turkey burgers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat in a pan, air fryer, or microwave until warmed through.
