Streusel Topping

Streusel Topping

Be the first to review!
A buttery streusel topping is one of those simple baking extras that makes almost any dessert feel homemade and cozy. Made with flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and cold butter, it comes together quickly by rubbing the butter into the dry ingredients until crumbly. Sprinkle it over muffins, pies, coffee cake, crisps, or baked fruit for a sweet, cinnamon-rich crunch.

Notes

Cold butter works best because it helps create that crumbly, buttery texture. Try not to overmix, or the streusel can become too soft and paste-like.
How to Use
Sprinkle the streusel topping over muffins, cakes, quick breads, fruit crisps, or pies before baking. Bake according to your recipe’s instructions, until the topping is golden and crisp.
Storage
Store unused streusel topping in an airtight container or freezer bag in the freezer. Use it straight from the freezer whenever you need a quick crumble topping.
