  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 egg
For the Caramelized Onions
  • 1 large onion thinly sliced
  • a little oil or butter for cooking
For the Sauce
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise to taste
  • 1 tbsp mustard to taste
  • tbsp ketchup to taste
  • 1/2 tsp paprika to taste
For Assembling
  • 4 burger buns
  • 1-2 tbsp butter for the buns
  • lettuce
  • tomato slices
  • cheese slices
  • pickles
  • caramelized onions

Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 skillet
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 knife
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 small bowl
  • 1 spoon

Method

  1. Add the ground beef to a bowl. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Add the egg, then mix everything together until just combined. Try not to overmix so the patties stay tender.
  3. Slice the onions and cook them in a pan with a little oil or butter over medium-low heat until soft, golden, and caramelized.
  4. Roll the seasoned beef into your preferred patty size, then flatten each one into a burger patty.
  5. Heat a pan over medium heat and cook the patties for a few minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, and paprika until smooth and creamy.
  7. Toast the burger buns in a pan until lightly golden. Once they are done, spread a little butter on the warm buns.
  8. Spread the burger sauce onto the buns.
  9. Add the beef patty, caramelized onions, and any toppings you like.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

For extra juicy burgers, avoid pressing down on the patties while they cook. Let them sear nicely so they stay flavorful and tender inside.
