Be the first to review!
There is no cooking involved with these Fruit and Cheese Kabobs, yet they are a colorful, easy-to-put-together snack. You just take some fresh blueberries and strawberries, a few banana slices and cubes of cheddar or Monterey Jack and put them on wooden skewers. The result is something sweet and creamy that is as much fun to eat as it is to make. They are ideal for a party or to pack in a lunch box, and being so low on prep work, the whole thing has a kid-friendly appeal for a healthy snack tray or picnic.

Ingredients

  • 8 to 10 wooden skewers
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup sliced strawberries
  • 2 medium bananas sliced
  • 8 oz cheddar cheese or Monterey Jack cheese cut into cubes

Equipment

  • 8 to 10 wooden skewers
  • 1 colander
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 kitchen knife
  • 1 paper towel set
  • 1 serving tray

Method

  1. Wash the strawberries and blueberries well, then gently pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. Slice the strawberries into halves or thick slices, depending on their size.
  3. Peel the bananas and cut them into thick rounds. Try not to slice them too thin, so they stay firm on the skewers.
  4. Cut the cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese into bite-size cubes.
  5. Thread the fruit and cheese onto each wooden skewer in any pattern you like. A simple pattern is blueberry, strawberry, banana, cheese, then repeat until the skewer is filled.
  6. Arrange the skewers on a serving tray and serve right away.
