Ingredients

  • 250 g butter softened
  • 1/2 cup caster sugar
  • 2 cups self-raising flour

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 170°C.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and caster sugar together until pale and creamy.
  3. Mix in the self-raising flour, then use your hands to bring everything together into a soft dough.
  4. Lightly dust your work surface with caster sugar. Roll the dough slightly, then shape it into balls about the size of a walnut.
  5. Place the dough balls on a baking tray. Dip a fork into a little oil, then gently press each biscuit to flatten slightly and create a smooth top.
  6. Bake at 170°C, then reduce the temperature to 160°C and continue baking for about 15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden.
  7. Let the biscuits cool on the tray for a few minutes before moving them to a wire rack.
