Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh milk or full cream milk
  • 8 slices white bread
  • 8 tbsp icing sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter room temperature
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 tbsp cornflour

Equipment

  • 1 Large Mixing Bowl
  • 1 Baking Dish
  • 1 Oven
  • 1 Spoon or Spatula

Method

  1. Tear the white bread into small pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Pour the fresh milk over the bread. Mix lightly so all the bread pieces are soaked.
  3. Cover the bowl and let the bread soak for 30 minutes. This helps the bread soften and absorb the milk.
  4. After 30 minutes, add the icing sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla essence, and cornflour into the soaked bread mixture.
  5. Mix everything well until fully combined. The mixture should look soft, thick, and slightly lumpy.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 35 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden and the pudding is set.
  8. Let it cool slightly before slicing and serving.
