Chocolate Chip Dessert Pizza

Chocolate Chip Dessert Pizza

Be the first to review!
There is something fun about a Chocolate Chip Dessert Pizza. For all intents and purposes it is a soft chocolate chip cookie, but you bake it in the shape of a pizza and cut it into wedges. The result is a sweet dessert with a chewy middle, golden edges and no shortage of chocolate chips to be had. Serve it as is for simplicity or put on a bit of show with some vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, caramel or chocolate sauce, even sprinkles or crushed nuts. It makes for a party treat that is as easy to share as it is cozy and playful.

Ingredients

For the Cookie Base
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Optional Toppings
  • vanilla ice cream
  • caramel sauce or chocolate sauce
  • rainbow sprinkles
  • whipped cream
  • crushed nuts
  • extra chocolate chips

Equipment

  • 1 oven
  • 1 12-inch pizza pan or baking sheet
  • 1 sheet parchment paper
  • 1 small mixing bowl
  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 hand mixer or stand mixer
  • 1 rubber spatula
  • 1 measuring cup set
  • 1 measuring spoon set
  • 1 cooling rack
  • 1 knife or pizza cutter

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F / 175°C. Grease a 12-inch pizza pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture. Mix just until a soft cookie dough forms.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pizza pan, leaving a little space around the edges because the cookie will spread as it bakes.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is just set. Do not overbake, as the cookie will continue to firm up while cooling.
  9. Let the cookie pizza cool for about 10 minutes before adding toppings.
  10. Add vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, sprinkles, whipped cream, or crushed nuts.
  11. Slice into wedges and serve like pizza.
